The Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Technology in Iran (FAST-Iran) has been established with the aim of achieving the following goals:
- Cooperating in planning and policymaking with respect to capacity building, infrastructure planning, and scientific futurism
- Participating in evaluating the growth and promotion of science
- Promoting scientific production, innovation, scientific and technological development of the country
- Establishing domestic and international communications in order to produce, promote, disseminate and transfer science and technology to meet the needs of the society
In this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran has appropriate infrastructure and capacities in terms of human resources and facilities to reach the apex of science, innovation and technology. Desired science policy and knowledge-based management can guide and mobilize national and international capacities to promote science and technology. One of the appropriate and needed infrastructures of the country is the creation of non-governmental scientific foundations in different areas of science which can more smoothly and determinedly lead the development of science and technology in the country. In order to achieve this objective, the Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Technology in Iran was established as an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit legal entity in 2007.
